Open Question: What does it take to live in Manhattan?

I am from Springfield Mo, and need some advice. I am thinking I might fit best in a big city enviorment. I want to relocate but am unsure where to go. I feel i will always regret not trying New York. My husband isn't game for huge cities, but i figure i might be able to persuade him. We are currently going to college. I am going for nursing, and he is going for automechanics.
